Road Trip!
Road Trip! Heading to Tom Coleman’s Porcelain Workshop in Henderson, Nevada.
Day 1: Tucson, Arizona to Flagstaff, Arizona. 4 hour drive, 264 miles, and 25 degrees cooler. Lovely day in Flagstaff, enjoying the cool weather, tall pines trees, and views of Mount Humphreys.
For Things to Do in Flagstaff, check out Discover Flagstaff’s website. After a 4 hour drive, I needed to stretch my legs and do some walking. I stopped in the historic downtown of Flagstaff, and checked out the Old Town Shops. A favorite spot we used to frequent when we lived in Sedona. Recommended by a friend, I stayed at the Little America Hotel . The hotel has 500 acres of ponderosa pines and the restaurant overlooks the pines. You can also explore two miles of private nature trails winding through towering pines.
Breakfast at Over Easy, great breakfast and everyone was super nice. They really work as a team which was great to experience. They have a cool founding story about the restaurant, “we launched Over Easy to give more people the kind of morning that makes their day.” They delivered!
Day 2: Flagstaff, Arizona to Henderson, Nevada. Just under a 4 hour drive, 247 miles, and the same temps as Tucson, Arizona. The drive had lots of mountainous terrain…and construction. Yikes!
When I arrived in Henderson it was about lunch time and too early to check into the hotel. I stopped at The District at Green Valley Ranch and had lovely lunch outdoors at North Italia. I had a yummy Steak Panzanella Salad that was big enough to take back to the hotel for an in-room dinner meal after a long couple of days driving. While I was at the District I did some walking and shopping, then finished off with a trip at Whole Foods to stock up on breakfast and lunches for the week.
The workshop starts bright and early tomorrow morning at 7:30 am. Time to relax!
Cheers! Make it a great one!
