The Studio

My ceramics studio is tucked into the rustic small town of Oracle, Arizona, a community many artists call home. It’s about a thirty-minute drive from my house — a breathtaking route through desert landscapes that continually inspires and shapes my work.

The studio occupies 1,248 square feet on 1.3 acres of remarkable rock formations, with a peaceful valley unfolding just beyond the building. A generous front deck provides the ideal place to sit, reflect, and sketch new ideas.

Inside, the open studio welcomes you with a gallery wall showcasing my latest pieces, a casual meeting area, and the wheel-throwing workspace. Adjoining that is a room dedicated to hand-building and computer work. A galley kitchen, handy for storing pottery and the occasional cup of coffee, opens onto the glaze room and clay washout sink. Outside the glaze room sits a 10' × 10' kiln house.

A long hallway displays my abstract paintings and leads to rooms for slip casting, photography, and a lounge. It’s an intentional, calm space — a personal ceramics studio I feel fortunate to call mine.
